Miranda Evanson, OT

Making sure your kids are regulated!

Hi, I’m Miranda!

Director of Occupational Therapy (OTR/L, OTD)

I always knew I wanted to work in the medical field. In fact, throughout high school and most of college, my grand plan was to become a chiropractor! But during my senior year, I discovered occupational therapy, and everything just clicked. I was immediately drawn to the creativity of the profession—how it focuses on helping kids build real-life skills in ways that are meaningful, practical, and most importantly, fun.

It felt like the perfect fit and a career where I could truly make a difference for both children and their families. Now, my journey has completely come full circle! I get to do the job I love inside a chiropractic office, focusing on a holistic, whole-family approach to health and wellness right here in our community.

I graduated from North Dakota State University in 2019 with a Bachelor’s in Biology, and went on to earn my Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of North Dakota in 2022.

Through my work in outpatient pediatrics, I’ve found my true passion in supporting children and their caregivers by helping them make daily routines feel less overwhelming and much more successful!

I am in charge of Maximized’s new Therapy Division which will soon be expanding into even more services!

Here is how my role as an OT fits into the complete care your family receives at Maximized Chiropractic:

Teamwork for Oral Motor & Ties

After becoming a mom myself, my heart was really drawn to working with our tiniest patients. Many parents don't realize that feeding struggles (whether breast or bottle) are often tied to oral-motor dysfunction or tethered oral tissues, like tongue and lip ties.

I work directly alongside our chiropractors and lactation team to get to the root of these issues. While chiropractic care relieves the full-body tension a baby might be holding, and lactation support helps with the mechanics of the feed, my job as an OT is to help your baby actually retrain their mouth muscles! Through gentle oral exercises, I help babies improve their latch, swallow safely, and build the strength they need for pain-free feeding and eventually transitioning to solid foods.

Sensory Processing & ADHD

If you have a child navigating ADHD, sensory processing differences, or behavioral challenges, you already know that their nervous system is working overtime.

While chiropractic care helps clear the pathways of your child’s nervous system and takes their body out of "fight or flight," my job is to help your child learn how to use that calm nervous system to process the world around them. We work on sensory regulation, integrating primitive reflexes, and developing the fine motor skills they need for school and play. Together, we help your child feel safe, focused, and confident in their own body.

Mentorship & Giving Back

I also love giving back to the profession! I enjoy mentoring future therapists and regularly serve as a fieldwork educator for OT students from both UND and the University of Mary during their 12-week clinical rotations.

When I’m Not at the Clinic

I was born and raised right here in Bismarck, ND. I’m a proud wife to my husband, Cody, and a new mama to our sweet little boy, Asher, who is almost a year old and the absolute joy of our lives!

In my spare time, you can usually find me going on coffee dates with friends, spending summer weekends at the lake with my family, or binge-watching reality TV shows!
